Returning to concert halls also means the return of the Bach in Jerusalem Festival. In the 2021-2022 season, it will take place from March 18th to 26th, the central work being the St. Matthew Passion conducted by Sigiswald Kuijken (one of the pioneers of the historic performance movement) and with an outstanding international group of singers. The festival, this year coinciding with the festival of Purim, will open with an early music workshop for the younger generation of Israeli musicians engaging in historically informed performance. The many festival concerts will include a marathon of J.S.Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier (Books I and II) performed by some of Israel's finest harpsichordists, an organ recital, jazz performances, and more. The full festival program will appear presently.
JBO subscribers are now eligible to make early-bird festival ticket reservations and at reduced prices.
